In the 1960s taking photos in colour was expensive. Prints tended to be small. Slides that needed a projector to view them were common but destined to be hidden away and gather dust. Converting slides and colour negatives into digital form is now easy and part of our digitisation programme.
A new page has been created with 90 images which with further donations will be expanded in the future. With thanks to Ted Sayer for sending slides of his father’s Alvis cars click 1960s to view them.
Clive Taylor was appointed as official AOC photographer in 1989. As a result, we have several albums from 1989 and later. These are in full colour. To view some of these and the first three Bulletins (in black and white), click 1989 – Coventry and Duxford
Thanks to my late Father’s keen interest in photography, I have plenty of scanned transparencies of our family TA14 Woody, from 1960 onwards. Let me know if you want to see any. The attached was in Northern Spain in 1968 Yours, David Holmes

Thanks David, please email any scans to alvisarchive@btinternet.com
Dear John Fox
Thanks a lot for these colour photos. The one with 2 YKM at the petrol station is wonderful!! It reminds me of Edward Hoppers famous painting “Gas 1940“.

Great to see a colur picture of ‘Jock’ Stephen’s old 4.3 with the triple SUs and oil cooler. Had many a hairy ride in that with Jock over the years. Hopefully it is still around. I think it was the ONLY Alvis with a blue background to the radiator badge, a feature which Jock had specially done.

do you know you can buy a small illuminated stand you can place your phone on and photograph any slides you put under it , or 35 mm film. Automatically turning them into digital images. If you have negatives you can change the settings on your phone to view these as positives using the same stand.
Dear Sirs,
in 2023 I have bought TC/100 number 25617. In the course of 2024 the car was re-commissioned , doorpanels and ceiling were cleaned and where necessary repaired . The leather upholstery has been cleaned and refreshed. The car is ready to go for the upcoming season.
Unfortunately there is no documentation re it’s history. Could you help me?
kind regards,
Jan Westerink
We have no information on the history of this car. Red Triangle may be able to provide you with a build sheet and any service history. Does it have a registration plate?
