Stalwart

Mark Ellis used to drive Stalwarts in the Royal Engineers, and has helped run the Alvis HMLC group on Facebook for some years now.

During Covid Lockdown in 2020, I started gathering army workshop manuals and user manuals to try and help keep the remaining vehicles out of the scrap yards. Knowing that Stalwarts are being used south of the equator, I created a website so that people outside of Facebook could access the manuals – all declassified by the MOD.

I also managed to obtain a copy of John L. Rue’s book on the Stalwart story, published in the 90s. Since then of course, we have the Internet and Facebook, and much more is available online. Sadly, John Rue passed away several years ago.

Because of all the incorrect stories about the Stalwart, I started evolving the website to record the development and uses of the Stalwart, a work in progress, and is at alvis-stalwart
