  1. I’ve just found 3 colour pictures of this same car, EYX 622, sporting black over pale blue coachwork, taken next to a green ‘Ring & Brymer’ thf truck. Location unknown. Chris Boardman.

  2. I bought the wreckage of this car in 1972 after it had been found in a garage in Selborne, Hants. With professional help where necessary I rebuilt in from the ground up by 1975 and covered about 60,000 miles by the time I sold it to Germany in 2009 after falling into my inspection pit (not recommended) I bought it as a bent chassis, engine out and body in two halves on a trailer.

Around 1982 when I decided to use it for weddings I was directed to the wrong house in Farringdon, Hants (by then I lived 8 miles away in West Meon) and an astonished gentleman came out to see what was going on. His name was Peter Negretti (not Negreth), of the Negretti and Zamba Instruments family and he told me that he had chosen the car for his father in 1938, at Anderson’s salesroom in Stratton Street off Picadilly. He took me in the house and showed me 3 photos he took that day in the garden of the family home in Worplesdon near Guidford. The house – and the trees – are still there, though now a Beefeater or similar. 50 years to the day I took the car back and took more photos under those trees. The photo shown here is one of those three originals.

The blue and black colour scheme is as original except that the blue is now Ford Olympic Blue of the 1970’s, the original was more of a Wedgewood Blue. I added a ring of blue to the spare wheel cover because I thought it needed it.

The German owner Mr. Axel Lotz joined the AOC in the last year or two and as far as I know still has it. Curiously, only today someone left a message on my answering machine saying he wished to speak to me about “EYX 622” but the number he gave is permanently engaged,
