Out and about in September

The Hampton Court Concours included James Sprague’s Offord Speed 25, a two seater with disappearing hood, and he came away with a prize.

Trust members have attended some new classic car meetings in Lincolnshire to show Alvis cars in the wider setting of the classic car fraternity. Six Alvis from 1931-1966 joined a wide variety of vehicles at the home of Larry Riches in West Ashby.

  1. Are there more pictures of the Offord Speed 25 at HC please??

    Wayne always takes thousands!

Looks a remarkable and obviously rare body on the car.

    Regards,

    Peter.

      1. Good morning! I must compliment you all for producing AlvisArchive, really worthwhile.
May I also add that I am married to Janet James, daughter of one of the AOC Founders
Arthur James. He owned many examples of Alvis including his faithful Speed 25.
I have recently received an original copy of the ‘Operation, Maintenance and Overhaul Handbook’
for the Alvis Leonides’ Serial Number 670 and with the name K D Harvey written on the frontpiece.
It is in used condition but appears to be complete. As I will never own an Alvis Leonides engine!! I thought it might serve a useful purpose in the AlvisArchive collection.
My 1927 Alvis 12/50 narrow body 4 seat tourer, bought by me from Murray McLean in 1962 is now with my eldest son! (since 2012).
The Leonides book is a weighty tome – so if there is an active member in North Buckinghamshire, I would be pleased to pass it on. Kind regards to all, Peter Thompson. Quainton. Bucks.

  2. Maybe next year I shall be able to participate in the Larry Riches gathering – and the other local gatherings, too! Meanwhile, I very much enjoy the reports on what I am missing.
